Melwa trains technical officers, welders across Sri Lanka
Melwa, Sri Lanka’s leading steel wire manufacturer, organised a workshop for Technical Officers in the Anuradhapura District on7 November at the Mango Hotel, with nearly 100 TOs in attendance.
Additionally, Melwa conducted a special training programme for welders on 9 November at the Muthu Villa Hotel in Walasmulla. This initiative aimed to enhance the skills of welders in the construction industry and provide them with the nationally recognised National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 03 certification. Nearly 200 welders participated in the programme, fully supported by Melwa.
The training covered the effective use of galvanised iron pipes and box bars with the right technology for. construction work. Participants also learned new techniques for creatively applying these materials in the construction industry. At the end of the programme, all attendees received certificates from Melwa. Additionally, a select group of welders received further training and financial support to obtain NVQ Level 03 certification awarded by the National Vocational Training Authority. Melwa also provided each participant with a valuable set of equipment.
Melwa continues to conduct such programmes islandwide, offering construction industry workers in Sri Lanka opportunities to gain proper professional training and qualifications recognised both nationally and internationally. A professional qualification such as this adds significant value, enhancing employment prospects locally and abroad
