Colombo – Katunayake Expressway E03 is Sri Lanka’s second E Class highway. The 25.8-kilometre-long (16.0 mi) highway links the Sri Lankan capital Colombo with Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake and Negombo city
Construction of the highway began in October 2009, and was opened on the 27th of October 2013, by former president Mahinda Rajapakse. It boasts a six-lane highway from Colombo to Peliyagoda, and a four-lane highway from Peliyagoda to Katunayaka, with a width ranging from 26 to 33.5 meters (85 to 110 feet). The E03 expressway links Colombo, the nation’s commercial capital with one of the country’s major tourist destination, Negombo city, and to the Bandaranaike International Airport in 20 minutes. The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has also commenced a luxury bus service on the road conducting services between Colombo and Negombo.
